The leather is the same across the range: full-grain crazy horse cowhide, oil-tanned, 2 to 3mm thick. It shifts color when you bend it, develops a patina with use, and handles rain better than most people expect. The hardware is solid brass, the seams are double-stitched with waxed thread, and every bag ships with a detachable padded shoulder strap. Two-year warranty on all models.

Three Shapes, Three Uses

We offer three silhouettes, each suited to a different kind of trip:

Trapezoidal — the PANAMA, MANAGUA, JANEIRO and QUITO. A hybrid between a suitcase and a duffle — flat bottom, wide opening, easy to organize. These are the ones that look right on a hotel room floor or in a train's overhead rack.

Cylindrical — the MEDELLÍN, CARACAS, RIO and ASUNCION. The classic duffle shape — deep, roomy, no wasted corners. The ASUNCION is the largest cylindrical model at 41L, built for people who pack for a full week without checking luggage.

Rectangular — the LIMA, CORDOBA, SANTIAGO and ROSARIO. Clean lines, streamlined profile. The holdalls are the cleanest silhouettes in the range — leather that reads boardroom before it reads weekend. The SANTIAGO at 52L is our largest bag overall.

What They're Made Of

The crazy horse cowhide is the same grade we use across all Eiken leather goods — full-grain, oil-tanned, never corrected. It's thick enough to hold its shape when empty and supple enough not to fight you when you're cramming in an extra sweater. The interior is lined with breathable cotton canvas or polyester, depending on the model. Zippers are double-stitched. The brass buckles and rivets are solid, not hollow — they protect the base when you set the bag down on rough surfaces.

Every bag comes with reinforced leather handles and a quilted, detachable shoulder strap that adjusts to fit any frame. Carry by hand, over the shoulder, or crossbody — your call.

Carry-On Compatibility

Most models under 36L fit in standard overhead bins. Leather duffles compress better than hard luggage — a half-full LIMA or JANEIRO will squeeze into spaces a rigid suitcase won't. For domestic flights or train travel, these replace the rolling carry-on entirely. One bag, both hands free with the shoulder strap.

Colors

We kept the palette tight: coffee, brown, cognac, and black. The natural variations in crazy horse leather mean no two bags look identical — the grain, the wax distribution, the way the color shifts at the folds. The MERIDA is the only black model in the range — and at 23L and 1.45 kg, it's also the most compact, which makes it a solid gym bag or overnight option.

Will a leather duffle bag fit in overhead bins?

Models under 36L (PANAMA, LIMA, JANEIRO, CARACAS) fit most standard overhead compartments. Unlike rigid luggage, leather duffles compress — half-full, they'll fit almost anywhere. The larger models like CORDOBA (42L) and SANTIAGO (52L) are better suited to car travel or checked luggage.

Is crazy horse leather waterproof?

Water-resistant, not waterproof. The oil-wax treatment repels light rain and splashes effectively. For sustained exposure, wipe the bag dry with a cloth and let it air dry naturally. A leather waterproofing spray adds extra protection if you travel in wet climates frequently.

Leather duffle bag vs canvas duffle bag — which should I choose?

Leather is heavier but ages beautifully, holds its shape better, and looks more polished. Canvas is lighter, easier to wash, and more forgiving when thrown around. Our canvas duffle bags use waxed cotton with the same brass hardware — same DNA, different character. For business travel and weekends away, leather. For outdoor trips and gym use, canvas might make more sense.

How do I care for a leather duffle bag?
