The Refugio Daypack 30L is a 30-litre Patagonia backpack: room for a pair of shoes on top of your usual things. On Tuesday evening, from the open-plan office to the climbing wall, your trainers travel with your laptop and the damp towel goes in the front mesh. It keeps the essentials of the series: a padded compartment for a 15-inch laptop, a breathable back ready for a hydration reservoir, two bottle pockets.

What fits inside

30L

A pair of shoes on top of your things.

The main compartment and the front pocket each have their own internal organiser pockets. On the front, a mesh pocket takes the overflow, or keeps wet or dirty things away from everything else.

Laptop

The laptop in its own compartment, under a flap.

The padded compartment is separate from the rest of the pack, against your back, and a zipped flap gives it a little more protection from damp: the shoes stay well away from the screen.

The "Refugio Fit": a 48 cm (19 in) back length, one size that fits most adults. For a shorter back, the Atom Tote Pack 20L is cut at 43 cm. No hip belt: all the weight stays on your shoulders.

Is the Refugio 30L waterproof?

It's water-repellent, not waterproof: the coated, treated fabric makes light rain bead up. For a full day in the rain, take a rain cover.

Does the Refugio 30L fit in the cabin on easyJet, Ryanair or Air France?

As a cabin bag on easyJet (56 × 45 × 25 cm) and Air France (55 × 35 × 25 cm), yes. On Ryanair (Priority, 55 × 40 × 20 cm), its 23 cm depth is 3 cm over when it's full. As a free under-seat bag, no: 46 cm high, against 45 cm on easyJet and 40 cm on Ryanair and Air France. Size limits checked in October 2026: check your airline before you fly.

Is the Refugio 30L comfortable when loaded?

For a day, yes: breathable mesh back panel and shoulder straps, a sternum strap. But it has no hip belt, so all the weight stays on your shoulders; to carry a heavy load for hours, the Terravia Pack 28L has a hip belt.
