The back length isn't adjustable: the Terravia Pack comes in S, M and L, and Eiken sells size M. With a shorter or longer back, the hip belt sits below your hips or rides up onto your stomach.

A fixed back, cut in M: measure yours.

Measure your back from your C7 vertebra (the bony bump at the base of your neck) down your spine to the top of your hip bones, and compare with the length shown.

Is the Terravia 36L waterproof?

With its rain cover, included and stowed underneath, it handles proper rain. Without it, the coated fabric lets water through in the end; it still isn't waterproof.

How many nights can I go out with it?

Two nights hut to hut, where a bed and a meal are waiting for you: the roll top takes the extra. To camp with a tent, sleeping bag and stove, 36 litres is too tight.

What does the frame do?

It holds the pack's shape when it's full: a foam panel rimmed with spring steel. The Terravia 14L, 22L and 28L don't have one.
