Klättermusen · Gyme Backpack 25L
Gyme 25L: the shovel up front, the skis on the sides.
The Gyme 25L is a ski touring pack for the day. The shovel and probe have their own compartment at the front, the skis fix A-frame on the sides, the helmet and skins travel in the top pocket. The back panel stays flat against you, so the pack follows on the descent.
The skin up, the carry to the col, the descent.
The name is thought to come from Gymir, a giant of the Edda and father of Gerd. From the Edda.

In the field

Measure your back before you choose.
- Measure your back from the 7th cervical vertebra (the bump at the base of your neck) to the top of your hips, along the spine. Compare with the range above.
- Too short or too long? You have 30 days to send it back.
In the rain · over 10,000 mm
The fabric holds wet snow and proper rain.
Lightly water repellent
300 mm
Drizzle, or brushing past wet branches.
Shower
1,500 mm
A shower on the trail or in town.
Waterproof fabric
10,000 mm and above
Proper rain: the fabric holds, the seams are not taped.
Waterproof
taped seams
Waterproof according to Klättermusen: seams covered with tape.
Wet snow and proper rain, yes: the top lid even has taped seams. The zips and the other seams let water through in the end: in rain that sets in, the down jacket goes in a dry bag.
What clips onto it
One more pocket, same bag.

Algir Foldover
The pouch attaches to this bag's loop webbing: map and phone up front.
See: Algir FoldoverKlättermusen was founded in Umeå, Sweden, and has made mountain packs since 1975. Its packs have been made of recycled polyamide since 2009.
Klättermusen repairs zips, seams and buckles. Outside the guarantee the service is paid, on quotation; Eiken passes the request on.
Empty it and let it dry after the outing, hand wash with a mild soap, reproof if needed.
Eiken's take
- Our pick
- It keeps the avalanche tools apart, up front, and stays flat against your back on the descent: what you ask of a ski touring pack, and nothing more.
- Worth knowing
- 950 g is not the lightest 25-litre pack around, and it is not an airbag pack. The fabric holds water, the zips do not.
- Who it's for
- Ski tourers and winter mountaineers out for the day, shovel and probe in the pack, skis on the back for the carries.
