Note: full grain leather is a natural material, which may have small traces, veins or marks inherent to the material. Scratches can be easily removed by lightly rubbing them with a cloth impregnated with vegetable oil. The color of the leather might slightly varies depending on the batches.

Oil immersed leather products can be prone by nature to colour transference on light fabrics. To avoid that, please make sure to dry your leather if it gets wet and try avoid contact with light coloured fabrics. If you however notice some stains, don't worry, it come out in the wash.

Is the Kaplan really a full grain leather backpack?

Yes. The Kaplan is cut from crazy horse leather, a full grain cowhide immersed in oils and waxes rather than corrected or split. The surface keeps the natural traces and veins of the hide, which is why no two bags come out identical. Inside, a cotton lining keeps the build simple and easy to live with.

How does crazy horse leather age?

It marks, and that is the point. Rub a light scratch with your thumb and the oils rise back to the surface, softening the trace; deeper marks stay and become part of the patina. The same leather lives on our crazy horse leather backpack EVEREST, in a different cut.

Can I use it for work or as a leather bookbag?

Yes. The main compartment holds a dedicated laptop sleeve, a zipper pocket and slot pockets, so books, notebooks and a computer each find their place. At 15 L and 41 cm tall, it sits between daypack and bookbag: enough for a full day at the office or on campus.

Is the Kaplan waterproof?

No, and we will not pretend otherwise. Oil-immersed leather handles a rain shower well: water beads on the surface before it soaks in. If the bag gets properly wet, let it dry away from direct heat, and keep it off light-coloured fabrics while damp, as oiled leather can transfer some colour.

Is this backpack suitable for women?

Yes. The Kaplan is unisex, and its vintage lines sit as naturally on a woman's shoulders as on a man's. At 1.5 kg empty, it is a leather bag you can actually carry all day.

Who is this backpack not for?

How do I care for it, and is it guaranteed?

Very little is needed. Wipe light scratches with a cloth and a drop of vegetable oil and they fade into the grain; let the leather dry naturally if it gets wet. The Kaplan is covered by our 2-year warranty.
