Note: full grain leather is a natural material, which may have small traces, veins or marks inherent to the material. Scratches can be easily removed by lightly rubbing them with a cloth impregnated with vegetable oil. The color of the leather might slightly varies depending on the batches.

Oil immersed leather products can be prone by nature to colour transference on light fabrics. To avoid that, please make sure to dry your leather if it gets wet and try avoid contact with light coloured fabrics. If you however notice some stains, don't worry, it come out in the wash.

Yes. The KYIA is cut from full grain cow leather, the top layer of the hide, the one that keeps its natural grain with its small veins and traces. It is lined with cotton canvas, and the leather darkens and softens as you wear it, building a patina that is yours alone. Like every Eiken bag, it is covered by our 2-year warranty.

How much fits inside this ladies leather backpack?

How does the lace and flap closure work?

The leather flap is reinforced with rivets and held by a set of lace closures, with a zipper and hasp underneath. You get the retro look of an old expedition pack, and your items stay covered and held in place. It asks a few seconds more than a plain zip, and that is rather the point.

Is the KYIA comfortable to carry every day?

Yes. The shoulder straps are lined and reinforced, and the upper handle lets you carry the bag by hand when you step onto a train or slide it under a table. The full grain leather softens with wear and settles into your shoulders over time.

Can this leather backpack handle rain?

A drizzle will not hurt it: oil immersed full grain leather naturally resists light moisture. It is not a waterproof bag though. If it gets wet, let it dry before storing it, and keep the damp leather away from light coloured fabrics, as oiled leather can transfer a little colour.

Is the KYIA too big or too heavy for a small frame?

Know what you are choosing: at 46 cm tall and 1.5 kg empty, this is a full-size pack in thick natural leather, not a dainty city bag. How do I care for the full grain leather?

Very little is needed. Small scratches disappear when you rub them lightly with a cloth and a drop of vegetable oil; the marks that stay become part of the bag's story. The colour can vary slightly from batch to batch, and if the leather marks a light fabric while damp, it comes out in the wash.
