I. What we mean by cookies
A cookie is a small file the site saves in your browser (computer, phone, tablet). This page also covers similar technologies: your browser's local storage and signals sent to third-party services.
Some of them make the shop work. The others measure traffic, make our ads more relevant or link your visit to your newsletter sign-up: those wait for your consent.
II. Your choice
On your first visit, a banner gives you three options: Accept, Reject or Customize (analytics, advertising, personalisation, one category at a time). Rejecting is as easy as accepting, and it never stops you from buying.
You can change your mind at any time, with the button below or the "Manage cookies" link at the bottom of every page.
Your choice is kept for 12 months. After that, we ask you again.
III. What works without your consent
These are needed for the cart, checkout, security and remembering your choices. The law does not require consent for them.

We also count, without cookies or identifiers, how many visitors respond to the cookie banner: displays, acceptances and refusals, totalled by day, language and device type. No IP address is kept.

With your consent, Shopify also sends some events (product viewed, added to cart, purchase) to Google and Meta from our servers.
Personalisation and emails
Linking your visit to your newsletter sign-up, so we write to you about what actually interests you.

Judge.me, which displays customer reviews, also measures how often those reviews are seen, without cookies and only after your consent.
V. Google Ads' cookieless signal
The site's Google tags, installed by the Simprosys app, follow Google's consent mode. Before you choose, or if you decline, they save no cookie but send Google Ads, on each page, a signal saying consent was declined, together with the page address. Google uses it to estimate, in aggregate, the sales that come from its ads. No personalised advertising results from it.
VI. YouTube videos
On product pages and the blog, videos play in YouTube's cookieless player (youtube-nocookie.com), and only when you start them.
The "About" page still shows a standard YouTube video: when it opens, YouTube (Google) saves its own cookies (YSC, VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE and related, up to 6 months). It will soon be hosted on our shop directly.

Blocking the essential cookies stops the cart and checkout from working.
IX. Transfers outside the European Union
Google, Meta, Pinterest and Klaviyo are based in the United States. Data sent there is covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework for the companies that have joined it, or otherwise by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
X. Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, erase, object, restrict and port your data, and you can withdraw your consent at any time. Write to us: info@eikenshop.com
