The roll-top construction expands the capacity from 16 litres to 20 litres: rolled down for a lean everyday profile, opened up when a jacket, a pair of shoes or the day's food comes along. Does it fit a laptop?

Yes. The padded laptop sleeve takes 13" and 15" laptops, with a smartphone pocket, an interior slot pocket and a zippered pocket for the rest of your kit.

Is the Lund waterproof?

Water-resistant, yes; waterproof, no. Rain beads and rolls off the waxed cotton canvas, and the rolled closure keeps splashes out of the main compartment, but seams and zips can let water in under a long downpour. When the canvas starts to dry out, a pass of our WAKA canvas care wax brings the water-repellent finish back.

Can it come into the airplane cabin?

Yes. At 43 x 31 x 12 cm, the Lund fits most airline cabin allowances, even with the top rolled. Check the limits of low-cost carriers before you fly, but for most travellers it boards as hand luggage.

Is it made for technical hiking?

No, and it does not pretend to be. The Lund is a canvas and leather pack for the city, the commute and light trails, built to age well rather than to shave grams: it weighs 1.3 kg empty. If you want the same expandable format in a lighter technical fabric, look at the Millet Chamonix 15+5L; for real mountain days, choose a pack with a proper suspension system.

How do I care for the waxed canvas and leather?

Brush off dry dirt, wipe the canvas with a damp cloth and let it dry away from direct heat: never put it in a washing machine. The crazy horse leather asks for nothing but time, its marks and creases are the whole point. When the canvas stops beading water, re-wax it, and remember the Lund is covered by our 2-year warranty.

This is a great bag so far, had it for two weeks. I am able to commute to work with a change of clothes, pc, power cords, etc. When it first arrived I was worried about the small side pockets not fitting my tumblers. However, I was able to stretch it to size and it now works fantastic for water bottles, my coffee, and/or 24oz tumbler.

Arrived less than 7 days after dispatch to the UK which is a WIN. Fantastic quality, it's obvious that some great craftsmanship had gone into the making of my bag!
Slight niggle that the side pockets aren't the right shape to hold a water bottle, as they are sewn tighter at the bottom the bottle only fits half the way in. Not a massive issue as I haven't encountered a trip is isn't able to fit into the main bag yet and doesn't detract from the quality of the materials and bag itself!
