Db Journey Ramverk Pro Backpack 26L - The Daily Camera Backpack That Keeps Its Shape (1.5 kg)
Ten past eight, a platform, a train running late again. The pack stands upright at your feet with a tripod strapped along its side, and nothing inside has slumped into a heap at the bottom. That is the first thing you notice about the Db Journey Ramverk Pro Backpack 26L: loaded or empty, it holds its shape like a case that happens to have shoulder straps.
The reason is hidden in the walls. Db builds a frame of light, stiff ABS ribs into the pack, the Rib Cage Construction, so lenses and a body sit in a protected box instead of a soft sack. Unzip the main compartment and it opens all the way, like a suitcase: the lens at the bottom is as easy to reach as the jacket on top.
Shell and lining are both 100% recycled polyester, dope-dyed, which means the colour goes into the fibre before it is spun rather than sitting on its surface. The whole pack weighs 1.5 kg for 26 litres at 50 x 31 x 16 cm, and Db rates it carry-on friendly, slim enough to slide into an overhead bin.
Who is it for?
Photographers and filmmakers who carry one body, a few lenses and a laptop on most days, and want the same camera backpack for a weekend away: Db puts it at one to two days of travel. With the camera insert left at home, the frame makes it a sharp commuter and travel pack for people who shoot nothing but phone pictures.
A Camera Backpack Laid Out for the Minutes It Spends Open
On a café floor, in the back of a van, on a hotel bed: that is where the Ramverk Pro 26L spends its open minutes, and where its layout pays off.
- ✔️ Rib Cage Construction: ABS ribs concealed in the walls keep the pack square and shield what is inside, even half empty.
- ✔️ Full clamshell opening: the main compartment opens completely, so nothing waits for you at the bottom.
- ✔️ Camera insert ready: takes two Db Small inserts or one Medium, sold separately, and works as a plain travel pack without them.
- ✔️ Large top pocket: phone, keys and headphones stay within reach without opening the main compartment.
- ✔️ Front and side straps: a tripod, a board or a yoga mat on the front, a tripod or a pair of skis on the sides.
- ✔️ Padded 16" laptop compartment: it opens from the back panel, so the laptop comes out while the main compartment stays shut.
Inside, mesh pockets hold SD cards, cables, power banks and drives, so the small things never sink to the bottom. A water bottle pocket sits on the outside. The slim hip belt detaches for city days and goes back on when the kit gets heavy, with an adjustable chest strap to steady the load.
Who This Pack Is For
The 26L is the Ramverk Pro that Db sells most, and the one most photographers need: enough room for a working kit, slim enough to carry every day.
- You shoot most weeks and your kit fits in one Medium insert or two Small ones.
- You commute with a laptop and a camera and want one pack that looks as right in a meeting as on location.
- You travel for a night or two and like a bag that opens like a suitcase on the hotel bed.
- You cover events and want the whole kit in view the moment the pack lies open.
- You carry a tripod more often than not, and want it held tight rather than swinging.
The clamshell has one catch: the camera comes out once the pack is off and opened, not while it is on your back. If you shoot on the move, the Ramverk Pro Sling Bag 24L swings round to the front and takes a Small insert.
Only a kit that needs Db's Large insert, also sold separately, calls for the Ramverk Pro Backpack 32L, five centimetres deeper and the only Db backpack that takes it. Our camera backpacks and the full Db Journey range sit alongside. At ten past eight, you set the 26L down upright on the platform again, and nothing inside moves.

FAQ
For most photographers, yes. The 26L takes two Db Small camera inserts or one Medium, sold separately, plus a 16" laptop in its padded compartment and small tech in the mesh pockets. Db rates it for trips of one to two days. The only kit it cannot hold is one that needs the Large insert: that is what the Ramverk Pro 32L is for.
No, the pack is sold on its own. Db makes the Small and Medium inserts it takes, sold separately; Eiken stocks the larger of the two, the Ramverk Camera Insert M. Without one, the Ramverk Pro 26L is a framed travel backpack that opens like a case.
Yes. Its padded laptop compartment takes up to a 16-inch laptop and opens from the back panel, so the laptop comes out at security without opening the main compartment.
A detachable hip belt. Same face, same 26 litres, same Small and Medium inserts: in Db's line-up, the hip belt is what sets the Ramverk Pro apart, paired with Db's contoured shoulder straps. On days when the kit is complete, the belt takes the load off your shoulders.
Db describes the 26L as carry-on friendly, sized to fit an overhead bin. At 50 x 31 x 16 cm it is the slimmer of the two Ramverk Pro backpacks. Cabin rules vary from one airline to the next, so check your ticket's allowance before you fly, especially on low-cost carriers.
No, and it is the trade-off reviewers point to. The main compartment opens as a full clamshell: great for packing and for seeing the whole kit at once, but the pack has to come off and lie down before the camera comes out. For street or event work where you shoot on the move, a sling such as the Ramverk Pro Sling Bag 24L is quicker.
It is weather-resistant, not waterproof. Db rates the exterior for light rain and everyday wear: enough for the walk from the station to the office, or light rain on location. For a day in sustained rain, keep the camera body in a dry bag inside the insert.
Empty it, take out the insert and shake the crumbs and grit out of the corners. Wipe the shell with lukewarm water, a little mild soap and a soft cloth. No washing machine, no tumble dryer. Let it dry open, away from direct heat, before the insert goes back in.
