A Leather Journal That Earns Its Marks: NAPLES
The cafe is loud and your coffee is going cold. You slide the strap out of its loop, the cover falls open, and a cream ruled page waits for whatever comes: a packing list, a half-formed idea, the day as it actually happened. Phones lose things. Paper keeps them. The NAPLES is the leather notebook you stop being careful with, and that is exactly when it starts looking right.
We cut the cover from crazy horse leather: full grain hide immersed in oils until they sink deep into the fiber. Drag a thumbnail across it and the mark flashes light, then fades when you rub it with a finger. Carry it for a year and the coffee tone darkens where your hand lives, the corners soften, and the cover starts telling its own story alongside the one inside.
The build is deliberately old school. Dark cord laced straight through the spine holds the pages, and the whole thing opens without fighting you. A leather strap anchored by two antique brass rivets tucks through a riveted loop on the front: pull it tight and the notebook stays shut at the bottom of a bag.

Why it stands out
- ✔️ Crazy horse leather cover: full grain, oil immersed, no coating. Scuffs rub out, patina builds, and no two covers age the same way.
- ✔️ 120 lined pages: cream ruled paper that takes pencil, ballpoint and fountain pen notes without fuss.
- ✔️ Riveted strap closure: two antique brass rivets hold the strap, the loop keeps it shut. No elastic to sag, no magnet to fail.
- ✔️ Cord-laced spine: visible dark lacing binds the pages the traditional way and lets the journal open nearly flat.
- ✔️ Pocket-friendly size: 17.8 x 13 cm and 0.3 kg. It rides in a coat pocket or the front sleeve of any bag.
- ✔️ Unisex and gift-ready: a leather journal reads as personal without guessing sizes or colors.
Who it is for
Daily writers, first. Morning pages, field notes, a travel log scribbled on a night train. It suits anyone who thinks better with a pen: the project manager sketching a plan before a meeting, the traveler who wants one honest record of the trip. It is also the rare gift that feels made for the person without needing their measurements.
It is not for everyone, and we would rather say so. If you need a dated planner with tabs, pockets and a pen loop, the NAPLES will feel too bare: it is 120 ruled pages and a strap, nothing more. And if you want leather that stays showroom-perfect, crazy horse will frustrate you. It marks. The marks fade, blend and become the finish, but the cover will never look untouched again after week one. That is the point.
Writers tend to collect the rest of the kit anyway. The PALERMO leather pen case keeps your pens in the same crazy horse leather, and the FLORENCE leather portfolio carries this leather notebook together with your documents when the notes have to look professional.

Leather journal NAPLES: your questions
Are the pages lined or blank?
Lined. The NAPLES holds 120 cream ruled pages, so it works straight away as a diary, a work notebook or a travel log. If you sketch more than you write, the ruling is light enough to draw over.
What is crazy horse leather?
Full grain leather immersed in oils and waxes during tanning. The oils saturate the fiber, so every scratch or pressure mark shows lighter at first, then fades when rubbed. Over months of handling the cover darkens and builds a patina unique to its owner.
Will it fit in a pocket?
Yes, within reason. At 17.8 x 13 cm (7 x 5.1 inches) and 0.3 kg it slides into a coat or jacket pocket and takes almost no room in a bag. It is bigger than a pocket memo book and smaller than an A5 desk notebook: sized for carrying, not for storing.
How does the strap closure work?
A leather strap fixed to the back cover with two antique brass rivets wraps around and tucks through a riveted loop on the front. It holds the covers shut so loose papers, receipts or a boarding pass stay put inside. No elastic band to stretch out over time.
My cover has scratches. Is that normal?
Normal and intended. Crazy horse leather marks easily and heals just as easily: rub the scratch with your fingers and the oils migrate back, blending it into the surface. If you want a leather that never shows wear, this is not the right material for you.
Does it come with a pen?
No, and there is no pen loop either: the NAPLES stays deliberately minimal. Most of our customers pair it with the PALERMO pen case in matching crazy horse leather, or carry both inside one of our leather messenger bags for a full everyday-carry setup.
Is it a good gift?
One of the safest we make. A leather journal is unisex, needs no size, and gets more personal with use. It works for graduations, new jobs, travel send-offs, or anyone who keeps notes on paper.
