5 Unusual But Useful Things to Bring on a Camping Trip

 Reading Time:  about

Camping is a great way to explore the great outdoors and get close to nature. It is also an excellent way to relax, de-stress, and get away from the noise and toxicity of the city. However, it could also mean being away from the comfort of home and the convenience of home. Yes, camping makes you go back to the bare essentials of living and surviving in the wilderness. The good thing is, you are allowed to plan and prepare for this outdoor adventure. We know most of the basic camping gear and stuff, but some items that may be out of our usual list can be useful on a camping trip.

Here, we’ll share some of the unusual but useful stuff to bring on a camping trip.

1. Airsoft Gun

You may be thinking about what you’ll need an airsoft gun for out in the woods. It can be pretty handy if you think about it. If you are an avid airsoft gun enthusiast or a dedicated airsoft player, the wild outdoors can provide plenty of opportunities for target practice or hone your airsoft skills. You can buy airsoft guns at the best prices in hobby stores, airsoft gun stores, or online stores or you can bring your customized airgun for practice. Another practical use of the airsoft gun in the wild is to ward off critters from invading your tent, damaging your stuff, or stealing your food. Just be careful not to use it on large animals, unless you want to cut your camping trip short.

2. Magnesium Bar

No matter how good you are at rubbing sticks or bashing rocks to make a fire in the wild outdoors, it wouldn’t matter if it’s raining or the firewood is wet. While you can bring a lighter, match, or other fire starters, they can take much time to start a fire during wet outdoor conditions. Thus, a magnesium fuel bar is the best unlikely tool that can help you easily start a fire, and it is not heavy on your budget.

3. Bumper Dumper

It might be a funny way of referring to an off-road commode, but taking a dump while camping is a serious matter. You have hygiene, sanitation, and environmental impact to think of when you heed the call of nature out there in the wild. With this ingenious invention, you don’t have to worry about finding a hiding spot or digging a hole when you have to go. You can simply attach this device to the back of your truck and do your business in comfort. It comes with a sanitary storage bucket for proper disposal afterward.

4. Pocket Shower

Here is another unusual but useful device you can bring on your camping trip, especially if you are camping for several days. You will need a good, refreshing bath to keep yourself cool and clean during your camping stay. Access to running water is a necessity, but you may not have the luxury of abundance. This compact device can easily expand, comes with a six-meter cord for easy installation, and can hold up to 10 liters of water - enough for an eight-minute shower.

5. An All-in-One Liquid Soap

Now here’s a good item for your shower and hygiene needs while you’re out camping. Dr. Bronner's Castile Liquid soap is the only soap you’ll be bringing to camp from now on. This biodegradable soap can be used for taking a bath, washing the dishes, and doing the laundry while camping. Heck, you can even use it to brush your teeth if you, unfortunately, forgot to bring toothpaste.

camping under the stars

There are a lot of seemingly weird items that you can bring on a camping trip that are useful. Camping may be a fun activity, but it is a survival activity as well. You need to meet your basic needs while away from home, and you also need to protect yourself from the elements, insects, and animals. However, with your camping gear and your useful extra stuff, you can make your camping trip a memorable experience.
